Blessing of the Backpacks & Sunday School

On August 28, 2016, we held our 3rd annual Blessing of the Backpacks and Briefcases. All of God’s children, young and old, were encouraged to bring their backpacks, laptops, graphing calculators, planners, smartphones, paintbrushes, car keys, cookbooks – any of the tools used to help work and learn. During the Time for Children, we blessed these items and remembered that God is with us as our church’s children began a new year of learning, and many of our families transitioned to the school year rhythm. Our Special Music was offered by Wendy DeForest, Brian Kessler and Martha Alexander, who lead us in the tune “If I Had a Backpack.”

On September 11, 2016, we began our Sunday School year and our new curriculum: “A Joyful Path”.  Sunday School for children in preschool through 5th grade meets weekly and grades 6-8 meet every other week during church. We also offer nursery care weekly, for infants and toddlers.
